Vertical blinds are beautiful to look at and easy to use, but when the question of how to clean vertical blinds, big problems can arise. Lower quality blinds can often get tangled, are too light and ‘plasticky’ to be able to stand up against a cloth cleaning, or have chains down the bottom that can become knotted. Couple that with the propensity for poorly made blinds to snap off their anchor at the top and you’ve gotten yourself into a world of trouble!
Before we start? A quick solution – our blinds aren’t cheap and nasty – and they stand up to cleaning! Now, onto the cleaning tips.
Cleaning Tips for Vertical Blinds
Here are some basic step-by-step instructions for cleaning vertical blinds. Please note – blinds may differ. The better the quality of blind you purchase, the more durable it will be.
- Remove the blinds from their anchor points up the top. Be very careful not to tangle or bend them.
- Wash the blind in the sink using warm water and soap.
- Stains? Use a sponge to dab away at them.
- Find a large space (preferably protected outdoor) to drape the blinds flat to dry.
- Once they’re dry? Pop them back into their anchor points, minding the chains at the bottom.
Selecting High Quality Vertical Blinds
As already mentioned, the better quality your blind is the easier it will be to clean. Our high quality Verishade Blind range are such that you don’t need to remove them from the top of the blinds’ runner, nor do you have to worry about chains at the bottom getting tangled up. This keeps your home kid and pet friendly, and also safeguards against ‘accidents’ where you might accidentally suck up the chains while using a vacuum cleaner.
Quality matters. Choose Blinds Plus Awnings & Shutters and see how you can cut down the stress and cost of constant blind cleaning by having a smart system that only needs a wipe down with a damp cloth. Life is meant to be lived, not spent up to your elbows in the sink cleaning blinds!
